Now Showing in The Robert F Cage Gallery

The Paintings of Linda Garden on Exhibit through December 14, 2017

Parsons-Bruce Art Association is pleased to present a two- month art exhibit featuring beautiful oils, acrylics and pastels by Linda Garden.   Opening day for the exhibit is Sunday, November 5 in the Robert F. Cage Gallery at the Prizery in South Boston.

A native of Ohio, Linda was born in Akron and was raised in Wadsworth.  As a child,  she always loved drawing and drew almost everything in front of her.  However; after high school, she chose a different path in college and pursued a master’s in English Literature.  After completing her master’s degree, she worked for two years as fiction editor of George Mason’s literary magazine.

She was encouraged by former professors to teach on the college level but instead she chose to go into business with her husband.  Now thirty- nine years later the business the two started is still going strong in Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Linda is a resident of Gainesville, Virginia and confesses that during the years of starting and maintaining the business she and her husband founded, she missed the creative part of her life.  “While typing, filing and doing all things needed to succeed in business, I missed the personal and creative part of my life.”

She says a friend introduced her to decorative arts and according to Linda, “When I got serious about painting, I learned to paint portraits.”

Linda’s paintings have recently won awards in Great Falls and the Piedmont Regional Art Show in The Plains, VA.  She also teaches adult art classes, children’s art classes and primarily focuses her artistic ability on portraits.

According to Linda Garden, “I started painting because I longed for the connection that painting brings.  Painting faces on canvas becomes intimate when I can see the person behind the eyes.”

Parsons-Bruce Art Association invites the public to the opening of Linda Garden’s exhibit Sunday, November 5 in the Robert F. Cage Art Gallery at The Prizery in Downtown South Boston with a reception planned from 3 pm until 5 pm.

The exhibit will run through mid-December and will be available for viewing and purchasing during The Prizery’s regular operating hours.
